Claude Monet died 100 years ago, in 1926 in the village of Giverny. To celebrate this anniversary, the musee des impressionnismes Giverny has organised an exhibition displaying 26 paintings by Monet. Entitled ‘Before the water lilies, Monet explores Giverny‘, the show focuses on the first years of the painter in the village, between 1883 and 1890. Monet walked around in the countryside to paint motives that still exist, almost unchanged. The curve you see on the painting chosen for the poster is the one you can see in the background of this pic, seen from further down in the valley. The paintings are back were they were painted, coming from Europe, Japan or the United States. Visiting the exhibition is a great addition to the tour of Monet’s house and gardens. Up to July 5th, 2026.
