Monet’s home

Monet was 42 when he arrived in Giverny.

Let’s say he was in his forty-third year, and he spent forty three years in Giverny. Exactly half of his life!

When he arrived he was looking for a big house to live with his family. He was lucky enough to find this one.

He felt so happy there he never wanted to move anymore.

Ariane, I “stumbled” upon your site and love it! It’s so inspiring, I sent it to my mother who loves
to garden. Thank you for posting these pictures of Monet’s garden. I didn’t know he was such an
avid gardener and that he used his own garden to inspire his paintings.

    hi Ariane
i just noticed that your post is the same day that i was at Monet’s house.
it’s just funny that maybe we could have walked past each other.
i could have stayed for hours. i’ve waited many years to finally get there.
if you’re French or just live in France, i’m truely envious of you.
nothing in America compares to anything French.
i understand how much Monet loved it there. what could possible make life any happier?

If you visited in the afternoon I was there, I work as a guide which enables me to take many pictures through the seasons at Giverny. I am glad you enjoyed your visit at Monet’s home and in France.
